The Ferry Companies

Many ferry companies run all over Greece and the Greek islands. Their itineraries cover even the smallest and remotest island of Greece, while there are more itineraries in summer to serve the big tourist flow in Greece.

The biggest port in Greece is Piraeus, close to Athens, where boats for Cyclades, Crete, Dodecanese and Eastern Aegean islands leave. There is another port close to Athens, the port of Rafina, which usually covers close by Cyclades islands. The port of Thessaloniki is also important, while vessels from Italy run some Ionian islands and arrive in Patras. Other smaller ports are found all over Greece to serve close islands.

Every Greek ferry company has its own rules and regulations regarding ticket issue, embarkation and disembarkation, that is why you are advised to read the policy of every ferry company. Moreover, all Greek companies make efforts to comply with the world standards in navigation: their vessels are modern and fast, while they develop environmental and social policies for the best service of their passengers.

Minoan Lines is one of the biggest maritime companies in the Greek sailing sector. Over many decades now, its work is dedicated to the comfort and the safety of passengers and cargo. It presently owns six luxurious vessels that serve the lines between Greece and Italy and between the port of Piraeus and Heraklion, Crete.

Being present in maritime since 1972, the company renewed its fleet from 1998 to 2002 with modern and technologically advanced highspeed ferries. The fleet of Minoan Lines now includes the following high-speed vessels: Festos Palace, Europe Palace, Pasiphae Palace, Knossos Palace, Olympia Palace, Ikarus Palace. With an emphasis on quality and safety and with respect to the environment, Minoan Lines aims to cover every need you have on board and offer you a comfortable and luxurious trip.
