On one of the most beautiful islands in Greece, Crete and within a 20 kilometer distance from the airport of Iraklion, a heavenly garden awaits for you in Hersonissos. In the famous holiday destination of Hersonissos, the hotel can easily be compared to a heavenly scenery.

(Here are some pics that I took at Lyttos Beach today.)

Not bad for a smoker's corner (Lyttos Beach).

Just 5 km from the town, hidden amongst vast, colourful gardens, in an area of 150 acres of palm trees and flowers leading to a 350 meter fully-organized, sandy beach, Lyttos Beach  is unlike any other hotel in the island. Its 347 rooms sea or garden view (double rooms, quadruple rooms, family rooms and suites), four swimming pools (one of Olympic size), two restaurants and three bars decorate this large area, leaving enough space for 15 tennis courts, a mini football pitch and a basketball court.

Lyttos Beach welcomes you!

Just 5 km away from the hotel, golfers can enjoy the most exciting 18-hole golf courts in the island, with magnificent views to the multi-colored Cretan mountains. Lyttos Beach is a mosaic created by sun, sea, sand, mountains, athleticism, fun and games, relaxation, fine International & Greek cuisine and friendly atmosphere.

Just a random shot.

Hersonissos

One of the most celebrated holiday destinations, Hersonnisos has made a name for itself. Countless cafes, shops and restaurants create a unique cosmopolitan mosaic! In the evening,  the centre is transformed to a lively and vivid area  with bars and clubs. The old village of Hersonissos as well as the villages of Koutouloufari and Episkopiano over panoramic views of the harbor of Hersonissos  Situated in a strategic place, the hotel is just 5 km away from Hersonissos’ centre,  close to the larger cities of the island and it can serve as a starting point to excursions regardless of the destination.

Hollywood Western scene?... It's amazing what you'll find walking around Lyttos Beach.
 Heraklion

Driving 25 km west of Hersonissos, one finds the capital city of the island, Heraklion. Little coastal towns and villages are waiting to be explored while driving the national roads along the sea-coast towards Heraklion. This modern city combines museums, Venetian and ancient monuments, busy shops and little squares full with cafes and restaurants.  The Venetian Fortress of Koules imposes with its presence the harbor of Heraklion.  For those guests wishing to visit the largest ancient palace of the Minoan Era, Knossos of King Minos is just a short drive by car or bus from the city centre.

Very charming Restaurant.
 Lassithi Plateau

For those guests that want to combine sea and mountain, the Lassithi Plateau is also easily reachable from the hotel. At an altitude of 800 meters, the Plateau covers an area of 25 kilometers.  The traditional, picturesque little villages and taverns together with stone windmills that are spread all around it create a unique scenery. The local taverns serve traditional delicacies created from locally grown ingredients are waiting to be explored. The inhabitants of the area are famous for their hospitality and friendliness.   The myth has it that in the preserved Cave of Dikteon Antron Zeus was born.

Recent pictures

From a different angle.

Her favoutite spot Sarandari, Agios Georgios/Saint George (Hersonissos).

 Hersonissos Coves

The Coves of Hersonissos are located 27km east of Heraklion, starting from Cape Sarandaris and continuing to the east till the harbour of Hersonissos. They are really beautiful beaches with calm waters, since Cape Sarandaris protects them from the northwest winds. Access to all coves is easy and the surrounding area is well developed. The busy Hersonissos town is within walking distance, but if you want to stay at night close to the coves, there are several bars and cafes. Let’s now see the beaches, starting from the west.

The westernmost beach that you will find here is not actually a beach, but a large smooth dock from where you can dive. It is located on the west part of the rocky Cape Sarandaris, near the picturesque chapel of St. George. Close to the picturesque chapel, there is a staircase leading to the rock. On the rock, you might see the umbrellas of the nearby hotels. Swimming along the rocks is a great experience, as this place is a very good choice for snorkeling...

She can spend the whole day like this, no problem!

Being a bit creative, he, he.

Breathtaking sights!

Ready for action!

You don't get tired of looking at scenes like this...

The village of Sissi

Sissi is located 40 km from Iraklionand 25 km from Agios Nikolaos, near to all the places you should see but yet quiet and calm.
The landscape is well balanced between sea and mountains. The sea is warm and calm and there are small, clean and romantic beaches.
There are paths for people who love biking and for those who prefer walking there are the beautiful roads of the village and the wonderful lanscape around Sisi where they can enjoy the contact with nature. The visitor can enjoy the Cretan way of life, as Sisi is small, hospitable and quiet, but full of life. It offers accommodation that serves all tastes, with hotels of every category (rooms, studios, apartments) with 3500 available beds, and a camping. In Sisi there are many small hotels with family character, who are characterized by the warm relationships between the personnel and the guests. There are also various stores and services that cover every need and suit to every pocket...

I took this at Sissi, quite special!
The small and picturesque port of Sisi looks like a big natural swimming pool and is ideal for walks by the sea. In the port there is the picturesque anchorage of the amateur fishermen where they moor their boats, as Sisi has lots of fishing places.

Foteini having one of her moments...

Enigmatic port of Sissi!

This too is at the port of this seaside village.

The many faces of Crete...

You won't want to leave this place!

Everything you look at is a snapshot, he, he.

Our trusted yellow steed, a scooter is good enough. But if you can afford or want a jeep, go for it, you won't regret it.

How about a coffee? "Frappe," iced coffee the Greek way, is my favourite for Summer.

Quite rocky I'd say, in some places.

Foteini told me to take this shot, she was amazed by all the little fish swimming around.

There are some interesting old buildings.

Very picturesque!

Foteini was also impressed by it.

Beautiful, isn't it!?

Foteini asked me to take this shot, just from a different angle and less sky, so I repeated the process with my next attempt.

Here it is, after my second attempt and I hope that Foteini likes it.

This is on the way back from Sissi to Anissaras. I was impressed by the size of the flag! Notice the little stall selling bannanas, etc.

Oh yes, I was going from Heraklion to Anissaras (West to East) and I ended up going South for some strange reason and got lost!

Got lost as I said, but the Sunset was magic!

This is in Hersonissos and it reads: "Freedom needs virtue and boldness."

Anissaras and you can see Dia islet on the horizon.

Just bits and pieces, he, he.

Our cat Asia and her little ones.

This is Smoky or Blacky, she follows me around.

Took a break here, I was walking from Anissaras to Hersonissos.

Agia Annas/Saint Anna

A peaceful scene in Anissaras.

Hot and nice!

Fooling around.

Took a smoke break here, I was walking from Anissaras to Analipsi.

Analipsis is roughly 24 kilometres east of Heraklion, shortly after Gouves and before Anissaras. It is also known as Analipsis Hersonissou, as it is very close to the seaside resort of Hersonissos.
Analipsis is built along a long road, running over a kilometre from the old Heraklion - Agios Nikolaos National Road down to the beach.

Analipseos, the main Church of Analipsi.
The village of Analipsi is found approximately 20 km east from the city of Heraklion, the Capital of the island of Crete and only 5 minutes (by car that is [my insert]) from the popular tourist resort of Hersonissos. It is very easy to reach even if it's your first time because of the New Highway from Heraklion to Gouves. After Gouves you have to continue for 5 km more on the Old Highway, so as to reach the village.

Oh well, I hope you enjoyed the tour as much as I did? I hope to see you around again... Keep well. Goodbye! :-)
